Luminous Dance

Experience

Luminous Dance 2016 is a kinetic light installation featuring seven life size dancers that rotate and respond to air movement.  They first appeared as a site specific installation in the 2016 Light Nelson Festival and were suspended above the black reflective pond in the Queens Garden adjoining the Suter Art Gallery, These Dancers are constructed from hard-wall plumbing pipe, and 7500 metres of translucent Japanese co-polymer (fishing nylon) using a three dimensional  knitting  technique and threaded with Swarovski crystals to refract light. Luminous Dance plays with shadow and light and was one installation in a series being part of a larger body of work with a recurring theme  - A search for the human spirit in an uncertain world.
